Experiment 1 Protocol

Experiment #1 Aim: To measure the PH value of given water sample, using a digital pH meter. Theory: pH of aqueous solutions can be defined as negative logarithm of hydrogen ion concentration. pH values ranging from 0 to 7 are acidic, and from 7 to 14 are basic/alkaline. The pH values are significant for water supply systems. The pH value of raw water must be taken into account while deciding the various treatment processes like coagulation, disinfection, softening, etc. This value is also important in corrosion control, since lower pH values (acidic water) may cause tuberculation and corrosion
