What is LiDAR?
Light Detection And Ranging (LiDAR) uses the same principle as RADAR. LiDAR systems measure the time it takes for a laser pulse to travel from the airborne sensor to the ground and back using GPS and other advanced technologies to calculate accurate positions of surface features. What does LiDAR do?
LiDAR produces a dense cloud of XYZ points with real world coordinates that can be used in a variety of ways to map terrain and surface features such as vegetation and buildings with high accuracy.
