Neutral Axis Depth for a Reinforced Concrete Section Under Eccentric Axial Load
Doug Jenkins; Interactive Design Services Pty Ltd
To determine the stresses in a reinforced concrete section we must first find the position of the neutral axis. The procedure below provides a closed form solution for the depth of the neutral axis in any symmetrical reinforced concrete section subject to eccentric axial load, with any number of layers of passive or prestressed reinforcement. A similar analysis is given in Reference (1) for a rectangular cross section. I am not aware of any previous published solut
